“Towers have always been erected by humankind - it seems to gratify humanity’s ambition somehow and they are beautiful and picturesque.”

-Frank Lloyd Wright, American architect, 1867-1959

This quote is from 19 August, 1956, three years before Wright died. He was speaking to the Taliesin Fellowship, and his perspective on towers is interesting, since he was such a champion for low-density throughout his career. He did dabble in the occasional tower throughout his career, however, which goes to show that even the most outspoken when it comes to low buildings can be influenced by the human need for Verticality.
